Ahhhhh.... I'm so sad to know you not planning to keep up the blog. I really looked forward to your posts and I always came away so inspired and full of hope. I hope you will still join us at our meetings 1n 2012 (schedule coming out soon). Pfizer asked me to join their patient advisory board for the new TTR-FAP drug Tafamidis and I was at a meeting in Atlanta for that two weeks ago and this past weekend we had over 600 hematologists approach our Amyloidosis booth and seek out information or just talk about amyloidosis. It was our most successful medical conference so far. Even the new head honcho of NORD came and talked with us for a half hour. Regarding not knowing... one thing to keep in mind is are you having more good days than not good days. I believe you have many good days still ahead of you. Dena

It seems we were in the same place at the same time. My sister turned 30 and I was in Houston last weekend as well. We sure do miss you and Barbie! We will definitely be interested in reading your book! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

I am always surprised to hear that some people are not donors. It has always seemed like an easy choice for me (and Dan). I'm glad that you have more of an opportunity now to encourage others to sign up to be donors.

Your blog prompted an up-dated conversation re DNR with Ed. Then I prompted him, "You're listed as a donor on your driver's license, right?"
No, he reminded me he has cancer and isn't eligible to be a donor.
Oh yeah - I hadn't thought of that!
He always says that most of his parts are still good!

I am a donor and I like to think I have a "good heart" but at my age (64)I don't know if anyone would even check out the condition of my heart and offer it to someone who might otherwise never receive one... like the kidney transplant program that offers "second class" kidneys to patients who don't otherwise qualify for transplant of a first rate kidney. I would hope that in medicine today my organs would at least be tested for their potential to help another.

Thank you Kevin for your thoughtful post. We were just reading in Alma about the experience that Alma and Amulek had to endure and how they were called upon to practice faith in that very difficult moment. The story came alive to us as we read it and it is a fitting companion to today.
Since Caroline was three years old and sound asleep on the morning of Sept 11 when we watched in horror the scenes of devastation, we decided to wake her this morning as we together watched the replay of that morning.

We hugged her and thought of the loss of innocent lives praying that they are able to comfort their loved ones in some way and that God's love finds a way to their hearts.

Love to you and Barbie. I got to hug Caitlin the other day and enjoy an ice cream with her. She was doing so well.

On a thrilling note: Kaiser just called to say Ed's Lambda is 23 - NORMAL RANGE!!!! And he's been off Revlimid for 4 months.
